Terms of Service

These terms are between you and Heima Studio (“we”, “us”), Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. They cover the KL Trains iPhone app (“the app”) and the website at kl-trains.heimastudio.xyz. By installing or using the app, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

1. Use of the app

KL Trains is a journey planner for the Klang Valley rail network. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use it on Apple devices you own or control, in line with the App Store Terms of Service.

You agree not to:

• Use the app for any unlawful purpose.
• Reverse-engineer, decompile or disassemble the app, or attempt to extract its source code, except to the extent that applicable law expressly permits this despite the restriction.
• Copy, redistribute, resell, sublicense or rent the app or any part of it.
• Remove or obscure any copyright, trademark or other proprietary notice.

2. Journey information is guidance, not a guarantee

This is the most important clause here, so it is not buried at the bottom.

The app is a planning aid. It is not an official service of any rail operator, and it does not know what is happening on the network right now. It has no live data feed: it cannot tell you about delays, service disruptions, station or line closures, engineering works, last trains, first trains, or a platform that has been changed this morning.

Ride times come from the operators' published GTFS static timetable feeds and are therefore timetabled durations, not observed ones. Actual journeys will differ. Interchange walking times are estimates. Some platform numbers follow a line's usual convention rather than a checked source, and the app marks these with a dashed underline precisely so you can see which is which.

Always follow the signs, announcements and staff instructions at the station. Where the app and the station disagree, the station is right. Do not rely on the app where being wrong would be costly — a flight to catch, an appointment you cannot miss — without confirming against the operator's own information. We accept no responsibility for missed connections, missed trains, missed appointments, extra fares, or any other consequence of relying on the information the app shows.

The app also does not know about fares, ticketing, accessibility of individual stations, lifts that are out of service, or whether a particular service is running today.

3. Price

The app is free. There are no in-app purchases, no subscriptions and no advertising, and it contains no payment code. Any transaction related to obtaining the app takes place between you and Apple under Apple's terms, not ours.

We reserve the right to change this in future. If we ever do, existing installations will not be disabled and any change will be described before it takes effect.

4. Your data

The app stores your saved routes, recent stations and last session on your device, and sends nothing anywhere. It makes no network connections at all. We do not have access to any of it and cannot recover it for you.

This means that deleting the app permanently deletes everything it stored, other than what may exist in your own device backup. The Privacy Policy sets this out in full and forms part of these terms.

5. Intellectual property

The app — its software, design, layout, text and original artwork — is owned by Heima Studio and protected by copyright. Nothing in these terms transfers any of it to you.

Some material in the app belongs to others and is used as follows:

• Network data. Station names, codes, line orderings and timetabled ride times are derived from the operators' GTFS static feeds published on data.gov.my (Prasarana and KTMB) and from the English Wikipedia line articles, which are available under CC BY-SA 4.0.
• Line names, codes, colours and marks belong to their respective operators — Prasarana Malaysia Berhad, Rapid Rail, MRT Corp and Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad. They are used here to identify real services, as a map does.
• Typefaces. Azeret Mono is used under the SIL Open Font License 1.1.

KL Trains is an independent app. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by or connected to Prasarana, Rapid KL, Rapid Rail, MRT Corp, KTMB, or any Malaysian government body or transport authority.

6. Disclaimers

The app is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the app will be error-free, that its information will be accurate or current, or that it will be available or compatible with any future version of iOS.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded. If you are a consumer, you have statutory rights that these terms do not affect.

7. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill or opportunity, arising out of or connected with your use of or inability to use the app — including any missed train, connection, appointment or flight.

Where liability cannot be excluded, our total aggregate liability to you is limited to the greater of the amount you paid for the app in the twelve months before the claim (which, the app being free, is normally zero) or MYR 100.

8. Apple

These terms are between you and Heima Studio, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content, has no obligation to provide support or maintenance for it, and is not responsible for addressing any claim you may have relating to it. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.

9. Termination

You may stop using the app at any time by deleting it. We may terminate this licence if you materially breach these terms. On termination, your right to use the app ends and you should delete it; sections 5 to 7 and 10 survive.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Malaysia, and the courts of Malaysia have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, this does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory consumer laws in your own country.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The current version is always at this address, with its effective date at the top. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated terms. If a change is significant, we will say so on this site.
